Seeing as those nights are getting slightly lighter my attention is slowly being drawn to the thoughts of the next few months. Cant bl**dy wait!!!!
Can anybody recommend some good child friendly sites about 1 -2 hours drive from Preston. Mainly looking for playground , stream and facilities nearby. We are C&CC members but have not visited any of their sites yet. Would be really looking for a max of 2 hours from Preston including Wales, Yorkshire, Peak District.
Any suggestions most welcome

Two nice sites by Settle,Langcliffe is close enough to walk into Settle, also Knight stainforth which is right on the river with good facilities and kids play area,it is to far to walk into Settle but you can walk to the village which has a child friendly pub. Also the Riverside at High Bentham is an excellent site, they are opening a pool this year, best of luck
I would try Holgates caravan park at Silverdale, North Lancashire - I haven't camped there but I live neqrby and it's a lovely site with a wonderful indoor pool (not crowded) and sauna/steam room etc. Good kids playground and small indoor soft play. There is a shop. Cafe/bar does good meals ..........however it is pricey - but worth it for the pool! Silverdale and Arnside are on the edge of the lakes and would take about one hour from Preston (get off M6, junction 35)

What about Riverside Caravan Park Southport 1/2 hour from Preston, Kids club Friday, Saturday night , Chippy and shop on site, Southport 2 miles away loads to do, my mum and dad live on this site and we enjoy visiting from Carlisle
On the lake, great if you've got a dingy or something, play area in the middle...no clubs or entertainment but easy walking distance to the many child friendly pubs etc..booths supermarket just round the corner, loads of great trips to allsorts of places. Takes us about 1.5 hrs from Preston. Although it gets really busy in high season and they stipulate min length of stay at peak times. Great location
Fisherground is great, lovely setting. Our 4 children loved the moat, stream and railway, but it is a bit remote if you are looking for facilities.
Campfires are fab but it gets very smoky during the evening which is't a problem as long as you're not asthmatic.
Low Wray NT site is about 10 min drive from ambleside, is on the lake, has a stream and a playground, the facilities are a bit basic, but adiquate, we had a great time last Whit weekend.
