The dogs on beaches generally depends on time of year.
I was in Scarborough last year. I took the dog on the beach on the right hand side (looking out to sea). There was signs clearly showing the demarkcation.
Yhere is a site north of Scarborough (2 or 3 miles) but can't remember its name.

Dogs are allowed on both beaches, but are restricted to certain parts after 1st April. They are also allowed on parts of Filey beach and all of Hunmanby & Reighton Gap. There's a few good sites in and around Scarborough, it depends what you're looking for, but by all accounts it's best to avoid the Haven sites.
We went to St Helens last year - everyone "speaks as they find" - we thought the warden there was the most unfriendly "jobsworth" we have ever met! The caravan club site up the road looked much better when we had a quick look around. Would not go back to St Helens in the park though would certainly go back to Scarborough. Great underground car park - take the dog for a good walk then leave her in the car with a chew for a little while whilst you enjoy the town. No problem with hot sun!
We use the West Ayton site which belongs to the Caravan Club when visiting Scarborough and their failities are of a high standard I could definately recommend it. However it has just reopened on March 17th and we have considered using St Helens if we were to visit when the caravan club site was shut as they are open all year.
We chose St Helens because it was open in February, and we were itching to get away in the caravan. I didn't see the warden, we were looked after by 2 really friendly ladies. Told us where our pitch was, explained the barriers etc. They even gave my daughter some freebies.
Maybe we were lucky, but I still think the site and its facilities were excellent.

There is a beautiful beach near the Flower of May site. I think it is Caister. Not easy to get down to, but lovely when you get there as the climb limits access so not so many peeps there. I think there were dogs on it too.

There is a campsite there too 'Cayton Village 'clean and well kept with friendly owners but when we were there the pitches were very small and it felt very cramped ,but that was years ago and it wcould be different now .
we had our very first camping trip at cayton village and loved it - keep meaning to go back, but, so many places - so little time......................
