Hi

I go to the annual VBOA National Rally at Billing every year and I have to say that most of the facillities are excellent. The resaon some parts look ragged is because the site is so popular and of course the British weather doesn't help. The site has recently been taken over by new management and I havent been there since then but from what I have heard things are going to be changing at Billing and rumour has it that the whole place is going to be re vamped - some parts have been re vamped over the years and improvements have been made. I visited Martello beach in Clacton last weekend and there was a lot more mud and less facillities there than Billing but everyone was still happy! I think it all boils down to the fact that some people are getting too fussy and a new breed of Caravanner / Camper has been born - the ones that want everything perfect and home from home with manicured lawns and no mud. The fact is caravanning and camping is all about 'roughing' it a little bit, lets face it thats what most of us enjoy.

On the whole I think Billing is well worth a visit especially if you are into water sports.

A lot of the problems at Billing are caused by people who aren't even staying on site. I strolled in the main gate several times without being asked to show my pass.  Even if they did tighten up security there are plenty of back ways in.  A lot of the boy racers from Northampton go there, especially at the weekends.  It's no wonder the grass isn't in great condition the way they speed around practicing their handbreak turns!

It used to be a good site years ago, it's a shame that a minority of idiots are allowed to spoil it for everyone.
