Any recommendations for a quiet camp site in south wales, preferably on the coast? We are a couple with a tent......
Thanks in anticipation of your response

Try Fishguard Bay camp site - the views are stupendous and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs right through the middle of it!

Theres plenty on the Gower!!! Use the search facility on this site and it will call up some corkers. A few are literally on the beach.........particularly Carreglwyd in Port Eynon and Hillend in Llangennith. Theres also loads where the beach is a short drive or even a few minutes walk.

I can second Carreglwyd in Port Eynon. I went there last year and you can read my review on it. Great site!

Yes there is a pub within walking distance. The Ship Inn. Port Eynon is only a small village anyway, so you'll have no trouble finding The Ship.

Excellent views from bank farm the roads down the gower are`nt to clever though we go down there fairly often and can recommend the King Artur Hotel in Reynoldston for a pint and a bit to eat its only a few miles from port eynon.
Only been to bank farm once but we are definetly going to return in the near future, its worth it just for the views.

Oxwich Bay campsite is quiet, and has great views. The washrooms are a bit old school, but if you don't mind that it's worth a look.
It's also not far from the other sites and areas already recommended. However, be wary of Hill End in Llangenneth. It tries really hard to be a chilled surf hang-out, but just ends up being dirty, expensive and full of "wannabees" !

Sam,
Well it's been a couple of years since I passed by so I can't vouch for the new buildings, but the site was banged out with people in their brand new wetsuits and I spoke to lots of folk who had had gear stolen from their tents. There were loads of groups which made the atmosphere feel kinda threatening, and the security guy felt it necessary to patrol with TWO Doberman's !
Having said all that, it might have changed, or I might have just picked a bad few days. I'd give it a wide berth because there's lots of other options around gower.
Hope this helps !

your right nigel its not a family campsite its more geared up for surfing and beach bums i think this is because it has one of the top surf breaks in europe and they hold many championships here also the beach has been award one of the top grades also. then you have the parasenders and the hang gliders gathering here thru out the summer. As you say you might be better off in Oxwich or Port Eynon. Strange so many people had thefts from their tents and yet stayed there and didnt move on ????

Sound to me like you already know the site Sam ! Yep, the beach and the break are incredible, I was just saying that in my opinion the people on the site try a little too hard to be beach bums, but most just manage to be ass***** !
Whatever you do, have a swell time !!!
