I an trying to find a camp site in the north west that encourages small tents only, and is not popular with caravans, motor homes, trailers, and 6 bedroom tents with en-suite and kitchen sink. Does such a site exist, or does anything come close? No dogs would also be preferable.

I am not looking for facilities other than a water supply (a clean river will do), as I want to experience camping as it used to be, with the only sound being that of running water and sheep.

I cant see that it would make economic sense for a campsite to only cater for one type of camping, why not try wild camping in scotland if you want back to basics camping.

You may find some farms etc that could accomodate you as these tend not to be used by family groups

Good Luck in your search though

Although you find large tents on this site it really favours small ones. Its a great location just below Stiding Edge and a short walk to the village and pubs. Its a while since I've been but still one of my favourites. ( The carvan site is in a completely different field)

Given that as your criteria, wild camping is for you
