Just had a fantastic weekend at Burnbake in Purbeck, quiet site, camping in woods.
Anyway, we would now like a similar site (for tents, no EHU required) in the south East, either Kent or west/East Sussex. But I am really struggling to find anything that fits the bill. OH says his idea of a camping nightmare is a big open field!!! We have 3 kids but prefer minimal "laid-on" entertainment. Showers and toilets a must obviously and little shop would be nice!
I liked the sound of Park Farm in East Sussex but think this is the one someone was saying is really noisy!
Thanks in advance!!

not really noisey there is 3 fields , you can usally tell when you pull on as to what field is going to be noisy . people seems to see familys and if they have a family go onto that field .. some decide to move out of respect for other campers if they like music and late nights .. dont be put of because the fields are very big so quiet areas can be picked . believe me you will have no regrets
Thanks, will defer to OH as he is the fussy one! (I am slightly deaf and wear ear plugs! .
Thinking about it, the site doesn't have to be small, as Burnbake was 130 pitches, it just didn't feel crowded thanks to trees and lack of laid-on entertainment.
Graffham (C&CC) near Petworth has many separate pitches in the woods or in small glades. I LOVE it there. Hearing the owls at night and waking to birdsong in the morning.
If you don't like sand mention it when booking coz most of the pitches are compacted sand. Always found it v peaceful & ideal for a quiet w/e or so. Best Pub is about 2 miles walk away, nearest a mile or so.

PS - Found Graffham even quieter than Burnbake - but there again, did go to Burnbake 1st w/e of school summer hols!

Normans Bay campsite near Pevensey Bay is lovely, right by a long quiet shingle beach, ten mins' walk from decent pub with a huge garden & kids' playground. It's a Camping & Caravanning Club site so not the cheapest - but toilet & showers are clean, and it's got a little shop (open 7 days), and a chip van that comes round on Saturday eves! Lots to see around there too, Pevensey Castle, the Martello towers, the South Downs not so far away.
Broadhembury Farm Holiday park is a very peacefull small (ish) site. Look beyond the holiday park in the title because it is definatly not (no bar etc). The facilitys are top notch & they do have an adult only section. There is loads to see & do nearby. They are the very first site listed on the Kent section in the campsite search facility on this site. I,ve spent a few nights there while introducing my girls to camping & can say hand on heart it was one of the quietest non wild sites I,ve stopped at. Well worth a visit.

Me again - sorry to anyone bored with this thread!
Although I am able to think for myself the suggestions were great so we tried to book Graffham but it was full so decided to give Robertsbrige a go. We turned up but not sure we got the right place as there were lots of beaten up caravans all camped in a permanent way (windbeaks marking "gardens" and the grass had grown long around edges) all around the outside and dogs running loose. Decided it was probably not for us so did a check of other local sites (keeping Robertsbridge in reserve) - but eventually ended up at the coast at Normans Bay.
Normans Bay was lovely, C&CC, no cramming in, very quiet!! We are C&CC converts and joined! We even went to check out two other C&CC sites on the way home too!!
Thanks again!
PS Might try out Broadhembury someday too, but still looks a little too holiday park-ish to me.

why not give shearbarn in hasting a try indoor pool for the kids nice bar for the OH nice camp we stayed there 18yrs ago and went bank for the whitsun bank hols had a wicked time
------------- why is it that peeps into caravan and camping have no problems with the peeps next door never a problem we pull onto our pitch to be offered tea or help ercting the awning /tent maybe if the country lived in caravans and tents there would be no problems in life ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
We ( 2 adults 4 kids) went to Lordine in Robertsbridge over the last bank hol w/end.
We had a great time, staff really helpful, esp the bar staff who upon witnessing one of my lads having a strop cos he couldn't do what he wanted when he wanted, produced colouring/puzzle books for them all to do... I felt this was a lovely touch.
They have a bar, small playground, small shop and an out door pool, however you will need a car...to get anywhere
and the one down fall is the tent field is on a slope.... but we just pitched so we was sleeping feet down the hill ( if you see what I mean)
