We'd like to get away for a few days with the dogs, but want to be in an area that is less likely to have large numbers of family tourists - I realise that this is a tall order anywhere on the S Devon coast, but does anyone have any recommendations?
Having looked through the campsite lists I'm currently leaning towards somewhere like Centry in Brixham, as Brixham seems to be a quieter area, being more boat-oriented than beach and pier oriented...
Ideally we'd like an adults only site, but anywhere that's quiet-ish would be OK, especially if it gives good access to some rocky beaches where the dogs can hunt for crabs and other shellfish... :)
Thanks!

Cofton is about a fifteen minute drive from where we live, can't vouch for the site, but the area is really lovely - from here you can easily get to the Torquay end (if you must!), but Teignmouth is great, Shaldon delightful and t he moors are close with all they have to offer. There is so much to do round here you certainly won't be bored. Lots and lots of fantastic places for the dogs - this side of Dartmoor has many lovely places for afternoons by the river, where the dogs (and you) can swim and relax, great walks, the best pubs ... wonder why we ever go away really!!!!
If you need any more info about the area, do let me know! Enjoy. Jackie

Don't forget Dartmouth! We went for the day first May bank holiday and had a lovely time. Great to wander around, nice little ferry crossing, all very civilised and not a yob in sight!
We are booked to go to Moor View Touring Park in July. Its adults only which is what we like best for our main holiday. Cant tell you what its like cos never been to that particular site. We were at Exe Valley in Somerset last year and that was lovely too, very quiet.
Pennymoor campsite in Modbury, between Kingsbridge and Plymouth. Been a few times, friendly site with shop and plenty of stunning beaches within 10-15 mins drive, clean and well managed and in High Season costs £12.00 for tent, car and 2 people, small charge for extra people.

Very spacious, doggy-friendly, people-friendly, clean facilities.
Although a family site, the family 'entertainment' is limited to a simple playground and sand-pit at the bottom of the field. The families that go there tend to be those that enjoy the simple outdoor life. Plenty of space between the rows of tents - the website photos are not an exaggeration - so you can be as sociable or unsociable as you want to be! Certainly no feeling of over-crowding.
Great walks - 25 minutes down to Hope Cove, mostly off-road, or else on quiet country lanes, or across Bolberry Down, or down to Soar Mill Cove.
Beach at Hope Cove is doggy-friendly, with rock pools and vast expanses of sand at low tide - little beach at high-tide though! Access to the coast path from the beach too. Good food at the pub at Outer Hope.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
