Hi

OH ahs just been given a revamped work rosta that gives him 3 nights off on 14th August.  We'd love to take the kids away for this as an extra treat but although have e-mailed 12 sites none have even bothered to reply to date.  Does anyone know anywhere worth trying?

Thanks

Try Holmans Wood in Chudleigh, Thorney Lakes near Langport, River Dart near Dartmoor.

No problems Peachyclair, don't forget there are UKCS rallies on many sites who also give discounts and as we are listed in the caravan and camping club we also give a discount on production of the card.

we look forward to seeing you next year!

Jakers your site price says that bigger tents, mines a hartford XL ,7.3m x 6m will be charged as a standard pitch, will this include EHU as the standard pitch says,or will that be added on top. Also can I ask your views as to how changing trends & bigger comfier more complex tents will affect your pricing policy sizing of pitches policy in the future, cheers.

Hi cliff n pat, yes our price if charged as a standard pitch will include the EHU. as it would with a caravan. TBH the larger tents do cause us a headache when it comes to both pitch size and thus space on the park and pricing.. Our major problem is that some of the larger tents can take up more space than a caravan, awning and car all put together, in this instance we have to say we are unable to accomodate.  We only have a small (ish) park and just physically don't have the space, plus the space between to take such units.

With regard pricing again a headsch looms, we toyed with the idea of going one price for all, including ehu, on a use it or loose it basis but then you do have people who have a small 2 man tent and don't want electric, is it right that they take up less space and have to pay more for it?  I don't know the answer...

We are lucky in one way as we are an open park, pitches are marked put we are able to combine 2 pitches if necessary to get a large tent in plus the legal spacing, but then we loose as a business as technically that large tent is taking up 2 pitches and we only gain the income of 1.

Park owners struggle with this each year and personally I can see no end to it, it's just something we have to suck and see each year....

Hope that helps

Liz

Cheers for that mate, you are added to my list now,it just seems that some parks are a decent price when you arrive then within 10 minutes you have all the add ons & its doubled, bit like buying a suite from CSL,its a con,but you have cleared things up & yes I can see it would be a headache, hope you have a good season anyway & may meet you one day.
