She who must be obeyed has decreed the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset is where we shall have our first family camping holiday. We have two small daughters, one 3 years, the other 5 months. Any recommendations as to suitable campsites? Ones to avoid, etc? We have a Homestead 7 so the site will have to accomodate large tents.
Any advice would be welcome

------------- It's not who has the most that matters, but who needs the least.

Have a look at Wareham Forest Tourist Park. Review in campsite search (Can't do links). Large but quiet, pool, shop, no club. Gives acces to Purbeck and the rest of Dorset. Excellent site and will definitely go back.
You could try Burnbake, you can find it on a search of the name. I think its a lovely site. Quite and not too prim. I like the fact that you have the choice between camping in the big field or choosing a quite little private area.

Pear Tree, which is about 6 miles from Poole was where we stayed with our 2 small daughters last year. Very well kept and quiet with just enough to keep them happy.
We have camped loads around this area over the last few years cos we love it so much. We have 2 girls now aged 5 and 7 but have been going sine they were 2.
My favourite site has to be Burnbake because it is just proper good old fashioned camping in a beautiful loaction. However with young kddies be aware that the shower block has no hot running water to the individual sinks. There is a water heater tap with a bucket for hot water. We managed fine with this but would recommend you take your own bucket if you want to bathe little ones. The showers were good and hot and last time were on a 20p card available from site shop that sold essential basicsa and yummy fresh bread.
Pear Tree is a lovely site too. Excellent little tykes play area for the kids but if you have a large tent make sure the owner knows and allocates you an appropiate pitch when booking. The loo block here is the cleanest and best I have ever experienced inall my years of camping. NIce big family cubicles.
Another fave is Wareham Forest. Good play area although my youngest struggled aged 3 - but played in the sand. Outdoor pool. nice sized pitches.
These are my 3 fave sites in the Swanage area. Hope you have a fab time.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
