Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
There have been various reviews in the practical caravan magazine and others. The consensus seems to be it is one of the best sites in the country I don't think you will go far wrong at all!!
Have been to Brighouse Bay for the last three years and would recommend it highly. There is lots to do for everyone - 18hole golf course,9hole course, pitch and putt, fishing, canoes, games room, swimming pool, horse riding, quad bikes, a beautiful beach and some glorious walks. The site is set out very pleasantly, with small fields surrounded by thick hedges, the staff are very helpful. I could go on and on - its a well run site and am looking forward to going back at end of July again. Book - you won't regret it.
Gyspycat do you have any tips on were to pitch, someone told me to ask for a pitch near the aeroplane? as the rest is very busy. Any pointers again would be much appriecated
Thanks again

Haven't actually been yet but if the guy on the phone who took the booking is anything to go by it seems to be very friendly place.
We're going for a week at the begining of Aug and we can't wait having read the reviews,it was also in "The Independent" 50 best camspites in the world (came in at No 3 i think) in April this year anyway might see you there.
Been there a couple of times and from what i remember near the plane is a bit slopey! have a wee look round before u actually check in, i suggest up the back on the way to the restuarant, good pitching there ( i used to tent ) .
you will love it there go and enjoy, i have written a review on this site.

If you can, get the hard standings down by the water absolutely blooming lovely, in my humble opinion this site gets the middle of the road style just right and if you get the weather then you will be gobsmacked at the scenery. I havent heard a bad word said of this site and there cant be many like that.
thanks for all your help. managed to get booked up today for Brighouse Bay got a pitch near the plane!!!
4 weeks 3 days and counting
Sounds the perfect site, wish us luck (first time camping) lets hope Kirkudbright is Bright
Think we have got everything lets just hope we can fit it in the car OH went and bought a roof box after looking in the shed, he says there seems to be more there since the last time he looked
Anyways, us newbies will be fine, any pointers on places to go etc very welcome
Park of Brandadleys is a very friendly site but it seems to be heading down the static caravan route with the caravan pitches being swallowed up. We go there once every year and we had a nice weekend there in April

Ok, cat among the pigeons time!!
By all means have a look at Brandedleys, but IMHO, it's not a patch on Brighouse, which is rated as one of the very top sites in the whole of the UK.
Considering that the area is pretty rural, there's plenty to do and see and I think you'll find a large selection of the usual type of leaflets and brochures of places of interest in the reception/office.
thats a lovely area , we go there quite often , there is a small very senic parking / picnic area adjacent to Ardwall island on the pebbly beach, a spectacular location in my opinion, and a short walk along towards fleet bay gives you a nice view of the other islands in the bay. Keep it to yourself though or they will all want to go ! lol
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
