Has anyone camped near Ironbridge recently and got a good recommendation for a site?  We are going the weekend after next and the camp site we wanted to book (Stoke Barns) is full.

We would like to be close to Ironbridge, within about a 10 mile drive if possible. And being a bit fussy, ideally a quiet site in a lovely location!

Hope someone can help,  Cheers,  LIZ

try http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5860 You will need to be cc memebers

There is also Mill Farm at Hughley, and Severn Gorge Park at Telford, Stanmore Hall at Bridgenorth.

All are very near Ironbridge.

Hope this helps

Ebury Hill is lovely but you would need your own toilet as there are no showers or toilets there.  We went there at half term and they were full that week.

We have camped at Severn Gorge Park a couple of times and have found it to be really nice. The toilets and showers are spotless, reception stock a few basics, small play area and ehu's are available. Its nice and quiet, well maintained, helpful warden and only a few minutes drive from the attractions.

Severn Gorge is very nice, although a bit pricey, but very close to the museums. If Stokes Barn is full how about their other site, The Sytche?

Oxon Touring Park at Shrewsbury is good. Or Cartref, just outside Shrewsbury.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.

Thanks everyone for the very helpful replies.  Thought we might try the new site - Kenley Barn as mentioned above, though Severn Gorge does look closer to where we want to be.

Cheers,  LIZ

We stayed at a CC CL, Leo Farm, at Brosley. It's within a couple of miles of the Bridge, just walkable if you don't mind a steep climb back. If you are going to visit more than one museum it's worth getting the passport tickets. We only did Blists Hill victorian village which we thought was excellent.
