There are site in Ross on Wye, never stayed there but went for day and they are right on the river. Or how about Stourport??

If you're calling Ross the midlands, try Lucksall at Mordiford right on the Wye.

Hi would March in Cambs be any good, we often go to the Flood Ferry Marina it is truly lovely there, also a launch jetty.
