Hi gang, the OH and I were thinking of camping in the lake district for a change. Can anyone recommend a nice quite site in the area?, cheers............Tiggsmum
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
If so I can recommend the larches caravan park (tents ok too ). An adult only site, north of Keswick on the road to Wigton, it is very peaceful and relaxing.
It's very rare we can get away without our young daughter, but have camped here for a weekend on our wedding anniversary, whilst daughter stayed with grandparents, and was very nice. It's the only campsite I've stayed in where you can have your morning newspaper delivered too.
We recently stayed at Dalston Hall caravan park, ( tents ok too ) near Carlisle.
It was lovely and peaceful, it has a rather unjust review on here, though I have submitted one, but it has not come up yet. Is near enough to explore the northern lake district ( and scottish borders ), whilst far enough to escape, the hustle and bustle of some lakeland sites, if you know what I mean.
Funnily enough, quiet sites you say, theres one near Ullswater called the quiet site , and have been there a few times, it is however always busy when we've been, is very popular, and your lucky if you can get in . very good site though, daughter loves the big adventure playground there, whilst I love the olde worlde on site pub !
It is good, also it has a small indoor swimming pool which you can hire for just the two of you. the toilet block is one of the best I've ever seen on a campsite, it has big cubicles that have a toilet, a wash basin (with electric shaver point ) , and a shower, all in the same big cubicle, you can just lock yourself in , sort yourself out, great idea for a toilet shower block.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
