For this weekend we need a campsite for tents with clean shower blocks within no more than 2 hours drive from manchester. Theres going to be 6 adults and children aged 14,13,8,7,5,4&3. Have stayed at Henllys, Ty mawr and Nant mill before but we dont want to be in such a commercialised area this time. Any advice is more than appreciated

Tyn Cornel near Bala is my favourite North to mid Wales site. You will find reviews in the campsite section. It now has a new shower bock which is lovely.
Bryn Gloch in Snowdonia. Not sure how far this is from Manchester but theres a park for the kids and the facilities are the best i've ever come across. Very nice clean big toilets and showers. Theres nothing around the campsite which you could walk to but theres a nice little village in Beddgelert which is about a 5-10mins drive. Or you've got Caernarfon town. Nice campsite if your just planning to stay mainly at the site.
Any reason for going that way. In two hours you could be on the east coast. Our kids love Scarborough (2hours from Warrington) and we found a nice camp last year at Cayton Village (going back this summer -OH spendign two weeks). Quiet camp but has necessities and it the actual "in-site" tent area is too small, they have a huge camping field out the back. OH is fussy and is perfectly happy with the showers etc there.

I didn't do it !! Nobody saw me do it !! You can't prove anything !!

Try Alt Gymbd in Mold. Only 15 mins from the Horshoe Pass and Llangollen, About 1 3/4 hrs from Manchester (And most of that is motorway or high speed duall carriageway. Go via the M56 and then the A55 to Mold.
Quiet and peacefull, but if you like walking or driving around to explore, you have Snowdonia, Llangollen, Ruthin, and a bit further afield the North Wales seaside resorts.
You could try Wern Isaf Farm in Llangollen, there isn't much on the site but the position of the campsite is fantastic. It feels like you are a million miles from anywhere but you're really only about 10min walk from the town.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
