Just got back from Cae Du, it was very nice but I recommend going to the right hand side of the site because its right by the road (something I hadn't realised)
There are only 2 showers for women and 2 for men, so there was a huge queue this morning , but the site itself is very nice, you are not crammed in and you can pitch where you wnt ( no numbers). Very professionally run, the facilities in the main block are stunning, there is a row of 4 toilets further into the site which are just bog standard (scuse the pun) but clean too.
The walk into Beddgelert itself is a fantastic walk, only half a mile or so (get them to give you directions when you arrive there's a back route much nicer than the road)
We ate at the Sarcens head but it wasn't much to write home about, not bad but nothing special either, there are a few other places to eat so if we returned we'd go elsewhere.
The grave of the ficticious dog Gelert is also clearly signposted if you're into that.
There's a tent show on at Betws-y-coed today and tomorrow, not a lot there but was still nice to wander about.
I will write a full review for the review section when I get time. We were lucky enough to go away in our little tent last night without our kids, but we're thinking of going somewhere tonight in our family tent but strugglign to find somewhere (unless we return to Cae Du lol)
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I agree with sprockets review, lovely site , beautiful scenery, very relaxing place. No music policy was a nice touch aswell.I think we arrived on the Annual Gnat Human eating convention!! When we first arrived we pitched by the river , after burning candles and looking like i was at a barry manilow concert we decided to move.We pitched up by the white house.Would go back again, this time with LOTS of midgie spray.
Cae du is great, but anywhere near Beddgelert/ nant gwynant will have vast populations of midges. The walk along the old railway track at beddgelert is lovely and the last time we walked it we had the bonus of a grass snake crossing the path in front of us.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
