Last year we visited a campsite on the Isle of Wight. After that visit I wrote a review which was not complimentary because the campsite didn't deserve it. This review was put on and I noticed at that time another review similar to mine in regards to problems with the owners etc. I have just had another look and all the bad reviews have been removed and only good ones remain.
Why have a reviews sections if you only display good reviews??? When I book a break away and I read the reviews section I want to hear to hear the good and the bad, and then I can decide whether or not to go.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I was looking throught the campsite reviews the other day ( not all of em!!) and the same thought did cross my mind.
From where i was sitting it did appear that all campsites get good reviews. It cannot be easy to feel that you have to give a negative review but it should be listed so that we can form our own opinions on those sites.
If negative reviews are removed or not allowed to be submitted then we would lose our faith in the review system overall.
Negative reveiws are on there. The is one campsite that a couple of members slated after a rally there, and these are published. This campsite deserved the negative reviews - I had been before, and found it great this time had to agree with the negative reveiws - it was dreadful. It was a site that I had very mixed feeling for - I'd been there the previous year and had a good time - this time, the treatment given out to tents was dreadful. This site has now received some possitive reviews so prehaps things have changed. I know the negative ones are still there as I was only looking last night.
I posted an average review for a campsite in harrogate - never got published. Tried again a few months later - again didn't appear. I think something strange is going on, particularly as there is only 1 review for this site at present.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
How many other people have submitted reviews that haven't appeared? And were they critical? The system is only useful if all reviews are included. Unless they're offensive of course.
We publish plenty of bad reviews, you actually only have to read the reviews for campsites to see this. If you follow the criteria then you will have a lot more chance of your review being published, and of course, only ever submitting one review, sl*gging off a site owner and then no more reviews submitted, looks suss from our end would you not say. Have peeps that do this only ever visited one campsite? hmm!
Tips for helping to get your review published:
Don't use 'TEXT speak' - this isn't a mobile! Use capital letters to start sentences and proper punctuation please. This saves us hours correcting reviews. Write a full review - cover the site's facilities in full, the toilet block / playground - did it have hookups etc etc Tell us about the surrounding area ( eg shops / beaches / bars / attractions etc etc) and provide info to help other visitors Be objective - we won't publish personal gripes Give constructive criticism where necessary. Add details not already covered in the existing reviews or website Be patient, we may have a big backlog at busy times
tractheace - your 'review' was mainly a letter complaining about and sl*gging off the female owner of the campsite, along with your friends one.
quote ... "I haven't got the time to waste on such a nasty individual...."
The owner quite rightly complained, also pointing out the reviews did not reflect the site at all when compared to the many other reviews, which I completely agree with, and requested they were removed.
aahbarnes - your review was submitted a couple of weeks ago, we get thousands of reviews at this time of year, and naturally, as is explained quite clearly, we will get a backlog at such busy times. The review is now live.
Burty - When someone signs up as a member, then the same day submits a bad review, but doesnt bother submitting any others, then obviously we have to take a view on whether it is published. We have no idea who the person is, or what their motive may be.
Why dont you submit reviews of other sites you have visited? It helps get one published when we know you have submitted reviews of other sites too, rather than just the one of a site you did not like . In fact this also applies to tractheace
