Try that one. Nice campsite, good clean toilet and shower facilities though there does tend to be a queue for the showers in the morning. We had a EHU pitch for our XXL and as soon as we came out of the tent in the morning we had a view right down to the lake. The campsite has various fields, one of which is a two minute walk from Ullswater Lake. Our pitch was near the shop so we had a five minute walk.
The lake is beautiful and the kids` loved feeding the ducks, swans and cygnets with our leftover bread. A short walk by the lakeside brings you into Pooley Bridge village.
We enjoyed it but be warned it can get a bit hectic at times!
Totally agree with you Beezers, I was just about to recommend this site myself !Cracking site, we camped in the lakeside field on the "front row" , pitched the tent "backwards" and woke up next morning to the panorama of Ullswater with the sun shining it's head off, bl**dy fabulous it was !!!
As you say can be a bit hectic , ie noisy 'til late.
Best part is the 24 hour access to the lakeside................midnight, bottle of wine , 2 chairs and the company of ten billion stars !!!!!!!!!!
Cheers

It's a National Trust site, but don't let that put you off. The facilities were basic, but good. I don't think they take bookings, but if you get there early enough you may get a pitch right on the lake under the trees. If I remember rightly it was a little steep, but to be on the lake was amazing. Here's a pic I took from the waters edge:
The lakeside pitches are just behind those trees on the left.
Beezers and gorjulin I shall keep a note of that for me next trip up north. Thanks
Paul

it is a lovely site and we loved the lake views. 24 hour access to the lake is brilliant and we had a few moonlit walks there. The scenery is superb and the kids loved playing in the lake in their dinghy, strictly supervised I hasten to add.
The site is remarkably clean for it`s size and the shop is very well stocked, better stocked than the shops in Pooley Bridge in fact. There was some noise as people left the clubhouse at 11.15ish but most nights it was peaceful by midnight.
Unfortunately we were camped next to the families from hell. A group of four families who didn`t seem to care about anyone else and spent most nights getting drunk, talking loudly and shouting and generally letting their kids run riot until sometimes 2am. The mother of the kids in the tent next to us, had a voice that would put the QE2 foghorn to shame, I swear you could hear her all over the campsite. Security warned them about the noise a couple of times, but in all honesty I think they should have been asked to leave, as if they need telling more than once to keep the noise down, then it was obvious they weren`t taking much notice of the rules and indeed certainly had no intention of following them.
I was so fed up of them by the time we came to leave, that I complained to Reception about them and was told if they tried to book again they would be refused. It`s such a shame when people like these spoil such lovely sites for everyone elses. If they want an all drinking, all shouting, running riot holiday with elements of hooliganism thrown in (one of the sons had a penchant for throwing bottles around and actually hit a young girl with one, who then had to attend hospital), then I suggest they go back to Benidorm etc, where these activities are common place and leave the Lake District in peace.
The old town that is , not the new town which is where the behavior you are talking about goes on.
Sorry to hear of your bad experience there (parkfoot, not benidorm !!)
You are absolutely right , if they did not take any notice of the warnings, they should have been booted off !!! and not be allowed to ruin everyone else's precious holiday time.
BL**DY LOUTS !!!

We stayed at the Haven site in Flookburgh last year and were kept awake one night, by a group playing music and making a general racket into the early hours. The following morning Security arrived and ordered them to be off the site in an hour. No second chance, no warning, just get off site now. It`s a pity Park Foot don`t have the same policy.
BL**DY LOUTS is right. The best laugh was when one of the Dads was telling his son off for getting into trouble, and telling him he didn`t know where he got his attitude from.........................Oh was dying to yell `Off you you bl**dy hooligan, you`re a fine example for your kids to follow, no wonder they are like they are with you as a so called Dad`. These people really didn`t see their behaviour as inappropriate for a family site. I`m just glad I don`t have to live near them!
