Bluebell Caravan Park, Ringmer, nr.Lewes, East Sussex.
The caravan itself was fine and suited our purpose. It was clean and cosy and wanted for nothing. The owner however was lacking in basic customer care skills and wanted a course on politeness and customer courtesy. His unfriendly nature resulted in only a nights stay at Bluebell where we had intended a two week stay.
We had just moved house and had a 2 week wait before taking up new residence so opted for a caravan park. Most were booked but Blue bell had vacancies.
We knew the gate to the site would be locked at 11.30pm. We unfortunately arrived at 12pm, but the gate was open. Thinking the owner had maybe left it open for us, we drove down to the caravan.
We only took out our night things as it was late and prepared for bed. We received a knock at the caravan door. Thinking it was the owner come to welcome us, we opened the door (bear in mind we were completely exhausted and had a long days work ahead the next day).
He started ranting about how my bike revving had woken everybody up. Just like to point out a) I have a honda deauville which is a very quiet bike; b) riding on gravel, you daren't rev your bike, do and you risk dropping it. c) I was too tired to rev my bike and could just about ride it.
If anybody had woken anybody up, it was him with his ranting.
He suggested that we weren't the type of people welcome at his campsite and that maybe we should collect our cheque the next morning. He then stomped of, foaming at the mouth.
We went to bed, both lying there asking ourselves if we had just dreamed the whole event. Needless to say we didnt have a very good nights sleep and were both pretty useless the next day. We did decide to leave the site though.
A seemingly surprised campsite owner opened the door in his dressing gown the following morning, when we arrived at 7.30am (the earliest we could escape) to pickup our cheque: we had gotten him out of bed .... shame.
I would like to point out that we are polite hard working individuals, who only wanted a quiet place to stay for a few weeks, one where we could come home after a hard days work and relax without too much bother. We both work in an environment where good customer care is imperitive and would never dream of speaking to customers the way in which we were spoken to.
Sorry for the rant, but needed to get this of my chest. This caravan sites says no children welcome. Should also include, smokers, bikers and anybody under the age of 65.
If anybody knows the owner of this campsite,an apology would be appreciated.
Also would love to hear the views of others.
