Just heard I dont have to Work this next bank holiday. My problem is where can I book a site at such short notice for that weekend. I live in staffordshire and dont want to go to lands end or scotland - no kids coming with us this time so a nice quiet break - any suggestions

Do you need facilities, or just a field with water and elsan point? And are you a C&CC member? If you are a member, and don't need facilities, have a look at Holiday Sites in Out and About - many don't need to be booked (my Mum and Dad are stewarding a lovely one in mid-Wales - there will be room over the Bank Holiday weekend, with lovely views down the valley and red kites to watch).
The Gatehouse in Market Bosworth (No facilities except waste point & electric) but you can eat out in Bosworth for a reasonable cost
If you are really lazy (like us) you could even try the Malt Shovel Public House in Chorley, Yes that’s Burntwood! Excellent Pub grub and a peaceful setting, if you ask they will supply electric via an extension lead so take the conversion plug. CC Club CL but you should be ok if you call first.
Anywhere in Mid Wales - Aberdovey festival and fireworks on the beach this coming Bank Holiday Monday evening. Can suggest many sites in this area if you wish.

Where's that Scampi? We've been looking for somewhere too and the only one we could see that was near enough had no contact details. We don't want to get somewhere and find it's full!

Max and Paddy - Scampi has gone off to Euro Disney but the site in wales is at the Red Kite centre - details at www.gigrin.co.uk.
The holiday site is listed in Out and About and you have to be a member of the C & CC. The Stewards mobile phone number is listed so you can check, but I am sure there will be room.
------------- Out of canvas, now a shed dragger. Its not me its the bloke in front.

Thanks, ScampisOH. We've actually been to the red kite centre (brilliant!) but unfortunately it's probably a bit too far for us for a weekend as we don't have any more holiday left and wouldn't be able to leave home until gone 6.
What do you need I presume you are after contact details for camp sites? I will bring the info to work on Tuesday and post here.
There are some sites listed already within the UK Campsite web site but will post aswell, what type of site are you after?
The fireworks are an annual thing at are on the beach in the evening, Years ago the carnival used to last all day with a procession of floats, beach competitions and games and a Water Ski Marathon all to raise money for the lifeboat. Last time I went the event was smaller and in the evening only but still worth going to. I suppose its all down to who volunteers to organize it.
