Hi all

Going on my first family camping trip next Thursday to the Peak District however the weather hasnt been too good here in the south east for some time now and am pretty scared this is going to continue in the peak district all through our trip!!  All I can imagine is that it is going to be a nightmare if it is rainy, to what degree Im not sure so thats why Im here asking you guys how am I going to cope and what am I to expect?  Does anyone know what the weather is going to be?

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

We have had some good weather there but it's England (and hilly). Once went in the winter and had about a foot of snow (Greenhills at Bakewell), had to be dragged of the site by a landrover.  Don't think you will get this in August though.

I can't comment on the weather in the Peak District but I would say prepare for the worst and enjoy!  I believe it was Ted Hughs who said 'There is no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing'!  Having spent a month in Scotland earlier this season, where it seemed to rain continually I must agree.  Once we got used to this idea and bought good waterproof trousers, etc we didn't let the rain stop us walking or exploring everyday and had a lot of fun.  In the evening we still managed to sit out, lighting our barbeque under an awning.  (These have come down alot in price now and are handy if you only have a small tent).
