I recently booked a pitch for three days at an Okehampton park by email. They confirmed my booking by return but wouldn't accept a deposit! Is this the norm? Ms Funky is panicing that we get there (220 miles) only to be told that we haven't got a pitch.

so far funky we have never paid a deposit ..but we tend to go to the smaller sites ...couldnt you confirm by phone jiust to check all is well???

There are only the 2 of us with a 10ft squarish tent which doesnt seem to be a problem ..maybe a big family group with a big tent might be more of a problems??

Some sites do and some sites don't - I've stayed at both and not had a problem.  

I can understand why sites do take a deposit, especially at busy times - means they haven't lost out on a non show.

You said they have confirmed the booking by email, there you go!  Just take a copy with you.
