Hi, I am new to camping, went a couple of weeks ago and stayed in a field with a tap and loved it. Have now bought my own tent and I am looking for good basic camp sites that allow dogs - I have 2 staffie pups (6 months old) and a labrador. Number of campers will vary from me and my hubby to 5 adults, 5 kids and about 4 dogs. I have looked at the sites listed and hopefully ( assuming there is space) I am going away this weekend but any suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance.

You will be quite lucky to get booked in for this week - sites tend to get full very quickley for bank holidays. You haven't mentioned which area you are in, but have you tried using the campsite search button at the top of the page to narrow it down a bit.

Thanks, I was beginning to think I had made one expensive mistake. And yes I do need a chill out weekend, hopefully just 2 of us somewhere quiet. I live in West Yorkshire but will consider anywhere - the further to travel the longer to stay.
Hi Sioux and welcome to UKCS. As mentioned by Galik unfortunatley the Bank Holiday weekends get booked quite a long time in advance. I would suggest you decide on the area you would like to visit, use the camp site search facilities on this site and try phoning the sites you have found. I hope you find somewhere to carry on enjoying the camping experience.
Happy Camping

Not for this weekend, but if you do decide you like the camping lark you might want to have a look at joinning the camping and caravaning club. They have a lot of certified sites, which are small and a majority of them basic.
Some are on farms etc and they seem to be all over.
Theres more information on their website.

Sioux, A big welcome to ukcs. Hope you find somewhere over the weekend, if not you will just have to stay at home with the rest of us at this site. You could do worse

I live in West Yorkshire, As I have to go to work on Tues I am looking at 2 to 3 hours travel - Lake District, North York Moors, Peak District etc for this weekend but would like suggestions for longer trips.
Don't laugh but I have purchased a Rage, Bergen 8 tunnel tent. Can't try it cos my garden isn't big enough - according to the diagram it is over 7 metres long and my garden is in tiers - doh. My Dad also gave me a little 2 berth dome tent ( he bought it, set it up and decided he liked B & B, I am not complaining)
Some of the lake district sites don't take bookings for tents so you might be able to get on those. Buts a long way if you can't get a pitch and they are basic sites which you were looking for!
The ones I know of are in Keswick:
Castlerigg Hall, Castlerigg Farm, Scotgates
They'll be full really quickly so you would need to get there early.
(we went ot Castlerigg Hall and got there about 10am to get in last year)

Looked at the link - thanks but they don't take dogs - can't leave eldest child with 3 dogs he would go insane. But (and it is a bi BUT) my friend might have the little ones so it is a potential - thanks I like Whitby.
regular haunt for us over last three seasons, dog too no probs, they only ask for dogs on leads and you clear up after them. where does it say no dogs??? we are going soon, hope the collie is welcome still.
Try Woodhouse Farm near Ripon. Excellent site and has an overspill field so you may be lucky for this weekend. Good facilities, bar serving food on site (but not noisy).
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
