Hi all, as well as camping my family and I love messing about on the water in our 10 foot inflatable with small outboard engine, can anyone recommend any camp sites (preferably north of birmingham) where I can combine both hobbies, sites next to rivers, canals, lakes or harbours would be great, I would be grateful for any suggestions.

We stayed on a site near ulswater can't remember which but that lake is freewater so the boat can go on. Like you we have aboat with outboard. Have just been to Fleet On Hayling Island near Portsmouth. Site not bad but the plus was, tide when in for 4 hrs a day you can use the slipway into a sheltered cove going out to the esturay if you want.

ooh you two would get my hubby so jealous, he is selling his motorbike, so he can buy an inflatable dingy,and put an engine on!

I was told by someone that Whitehaven is quite a good area to take out a dingy
