Thinking of going to this site, end of September, so can anyone let me know........
a) How far is the nearest pub, and is it walking distance ?
b) Anything else that may help ?
Many thanks

Hi gorjulin, we stayed at this site for the 4x4 meet, it is a really nice site, with views of the countryside to die for, but from what we seen the nearest pub is not within walking distance (I wouldn't say anyway), seemed to be quite a few miles away. Don't let this put you off though, it really is a great site, with spotless facilities, and great owners.
Hi the nearest pub to Wolds Way Caravan and Camping is the Dawnay Arms at West Heslerton to walk there is one and a half miles from the site, by road it is about three miles. The Dawney also serves good food and has a small pool room. There are many other pubs within about three or four miles all serve good food. If you need any more info ring Derek on 07960169219
Hi gorjulin, I stayed at Wold's Way beginning of August and as the reviews say it's a lovely clean site and very friendly owners.
Having stayed a week there I would say things to be aware of are the freezer was very small and almost impossible to squeeze ice packs in, even though I know this a nice service to have.
Secondly, it has great views, this is because it is situated on top of a great big hill!!!! And so when it was wet and windy it was very exposed. There is a hedge to the back of the field which may offer some protection.
The ground is very stoney but I knew this in advance and took ground hog pegs and a claw hammer which were fine.
Finally I would second that it is quite a hike to the pub or anywhere else from the campsite simply because the road to the campsite is so long, windy and definately uphill!!! But this is why it is so quiet!!!
Hope you enjoy your stay if you decide to go, we definately enjoyed our week,
Leila

Would I be correct in assuming , by the user name, that you are the Derek, as in Derek & Carol ?
If that's correct, then the reviews are spot on, you really do go out of your way to help !!
great info , cheers

We were at this site in April, and considering the position (high up with fab views), it wasnt bad in the wind, as there is a field behind the site that is still going up-hill if you get my drift.
Regarding the pub issue, you could always get a taxi for a night.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
