HELLO, I AM LOOKING FOR A CHEAP AND CHEERFUL CAMPSITE CLOSE TO BLACKPOOL. I AM HOPING TO TAKE THE KIDS AT HALF TERM WITOUT MY HUSBANB SO SOMEWHERE WITH GOOD PUBLIC TRANPORT LINKS TO BLACKPOOL WOULD BE GOOD. WE HAVE A CARAAN. THANKS DONNA
we have been looking around Blackpool for Oct half term, didnt realise that their were so few around the area, Hampton Road is the closest, altough i think that this gets booked up early, of course there is Martin Mere, but if its anything like Cala Gran I wouldnt bother, we think that we will be trying Windy Harbour, price is ok for the week but think its a little outside Blackpool.
Try the site search on UKCS thet seem to have all the sites around Blackpool.
Windy Harbour is nowhere near Blackpool and woould take forever to get to by bus.
Hampton Road is your best bet if you can get in...you are within walking distance of the Plesure Beach, Sand Castle and the prom. From Lytham Road which is at the end of the road you can catch a bus into the town centre or again on the prom a tram. There is a pub close by (Brewers Fayre) which has an indoor kids play area.
Marton Mere is the next nearest and has a bus that comes into the site No. 20 which takes you into Blackpool.
The other sites are Blackpool South CC site, no direct bus from the site you would have to make a short walk to bus stop.
Pipers Height and Gillet Farm on Peel Road are nice sites again a walk to a bus stop.
If they have a caravan they have a car,get nearer to Blackpool by car then get a tram or bus in. Went into Windy harbour yesterday to have a look at the camping side of things stuck in the corner like a bunch of undesirables,as for the caravan pitches, all hard standing but the awnings would be about 3 foot from your neighbour, have to say I was totally underwhelmed.

Like someone else has mentioned very close walking distance to everything... We've not been here but I know someone that has and they said it was fine ..
Yes it is...but please do bare in mind that the site is situated next to a main road and some noise at night to be expected...but it is very near to everything.

They obviously have a car for the caravan but my reading is that the husband will not be staying so must be returning home with the car once siting the caravan, which is why a site near to public transport is required.

As I live in Blackpool can I just point out that on the 'campsite search' link alot of sites are listed under Blackpool and infact are not in Blackpool....for example Windy Harbour is quiet a distance to Blackpool you would need your own transport. For tents your best bet would be to look at Pipers Heights and Gillett farm which are in St.Annes but yes on the boarder of Blackpool.
If I can be of any help to anyone please just ask.
