Has anyone camped here? I don't think they advertise that there is camping in the field but they have a message board and it's mentioned there. Just wondering what it's like.

gets popular. loads of room but not a proper campsite and no facilities except at the pub. good bands and beer and great walks and runs on doorstep. good walk to rosedale down the old railway. helicopter lands their regulary

Thanks Runone! Was just wondering what it was like, we are staying there for a long walking weekend in June (in the Inn) and the thought did occur to me about camping there later.

Fantastic location. They have an outdoor festival each July headlined by one of my favorite bands, Mostly Autumn. Like has already been said, there are no facilities, except for an outside loo by the pub, but it can be a pretty long walk in the dark, up the hill to the loos!

Campoing for the festival is free, by the way!

Yes have to agree one of my favourite places in the world! We stay in Rosedale )having a caravan) and then walk the old railway around the top of the valley then to The Lion Inn for a drink. Heaven on a nice day!
