well and I dont like to advertise this site but Naburn lock is lovely, very pretty and theres a boat that takes you straight into york its lovely it leaves daily and is fairly cheap, if you dont want to relax on the boat for an hour you can use the park and ride thats close by as well!!
I go to this site when i want to go to York shopping for the weekend, its lovely the owners are very nice theres no play area but theres plenty of space!!
sshhhhhh take a look at their web site all info is on there

The Caravan Club site at York Rowntree Park takes tents and is only a ten min walk into york..... you don't need to join with a ten and don't have to pay the extra as a non member.
I agree with nicholajayne about Naburn Loch. It`s a fabulous little site and just a ten minute drive into York, or a short bus ride and the bus stops right outside the site. The owners, Catherine and Peter, are very friendly and welcoming and more than happy to help with you any questions you may have about York and the surrounding area.
The toilets and shower block are immaculate and I even found Catherine in there one night at 11pm, cleaning them yet again, so they were clean for us to use in the morning.
A short walk into the village (take a torch for the walk home) and there is a local pub that serves lovely meals. They don`t do childrens meals though, as they believe children should be able to choose what they want to eat and not be limited to childrens meals of the fish finger, chicken nuggets and burger type. They will happily make a child`s sized meal of most of the meals on the menu and my two kids were more than happy with theirs. By the time they had eaten the meal, they didn`t have room for a dessert each, but the pub happily let them share one and provided two spoons. A word of warning though, we went on the Saturday night and had to wait quite a while to be served as they were so busy, so it`s best to get there early.

I would highly recommend Naburn Lock I've been there several times in the last year or so. Boat ride to york is great and the pub in the village is well worth a visis. Never bben able to get into Rowntree as always fully booked but lots of goods reviews for both sites

Try YCP York Caravan Park (http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=6567) - it's a new site that opened this year. I would say that though as I'm the owner! - it is in the White Rose finals for 'Best Newcomer To Tourism' though, so must be doing something right!
Andrew, I`ve replied to a few posts on York tonight as we were there last year and are going again this year, only to find out some of these posts are actually from last year and have been ressurected by you. I don`t mind.........you have a new campsite of which you are proud and we are pleased to have it brought to our attention..........BUT, correct me if I am wrong, you don`t accept tents? In that case you`re replying to people and telling them about your campsite when they won`t be accepted on it as in turborats case.
Do you accept tents or do you plan to accept tents? I would probably try your site out if you did, but at the moment your website suggests you don`t, therefore you recommending yourself to a tenter is pointless.

Good luck in your business anyway.
Yes - we do accept tents! I'll get my listing altered so that it is more obvious that we do so. Hopefully see you over here sometime?! I'll get some photos of some tents on my site and put them on my website ....as soon as it stops raining!

Thanks for that Andrew. I think it was your website that confused me a little. It says caravanning and not camping and it says somewhere else that all the pitches on your CARAVAN site are super pitches. Then when I looked at the prices, it seemed to give prices for caravans with awnings, but no prices for tents. That`s what lead me to believe you didn`t accept tents.
I hope this helps, as if I got a little confused others could also, I genuinely thought you didn`t accept tents. Sorry about that. Good luck anyway, it looks a nice site.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
