we are looking for a caravan site around Illfracombe for end of May. Would like good kids play area, dog walk, electric h/up, not to large and not to expensive please. We will look away from Illfracome, like Combe Martin, Barnstaple?
Hope someone has good Idea's? We stayed at the Hidden vally last in October, really nice site, but a bit costly in May.
Many thanks,

We are going to the C&CC site at Umberleigh in July; it's one of the cheaper ones if you are a member. I believe that Stowford Farm Meadows is supposed to be cheap, but don't know what it's like.
Hi. If you go to Stowford farm meadows/Stowford Country Holidays before 25th May, you can take advantage of thier special offer of a week stay, including EHU, awning and up to 6 people for the grand price of £39.90! After the 25th its peak season.
Ive stayed many times, it is a huge site, but, out of season you have all the space you could ever ask for. I always stay on field 5, the showers are lush, and have underfloor heating for the low season.
We're off to Damage Barton in August...OH booked it so I don't even know how pricey it is!!!! It's a working farm, with a seperate CC & CCC sites next to each other!! It appears to be right on the coast, and I'm fairly sure it's along the stretch of coast you're looking at.
CC site only has about 45 pitches, not sure about CCC though.

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about....?

damage barton is woolacombe but living in North Devon that is the site I was going to recommend if you want this area they take c&c member but also non mebers also by memory http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=4728
We looked at the Damage Barton site, but it looks a bit exposed for tents to us. What is it like for tents? Is it, as it looks it could be, a bit windy and exposed for us tenters?
We have been to Damage Barton last September. The "working farm" is well away from the caravan site itself, in fact you walk down through the farm to the cliff edge. It is a fair hike and if you have kids or pushchairs it will be tough as its downhill there and of course up on the way back. The site itself is pleasant and the pitches are well spaced. We spent most of our time off site either in Woolacombe or Ilfracombe. It is CC and C&CC, they are side by side.

went to Stowford last Sept on an offer - great price huge site but devided up into several sections each with its own block of great showers laundry room at very good prices it is near to so many places to visit cant fault it in any way Lilian
I can thoroughly recommend both Damage Barton and Stowford. We have looked at nearly all the sites in this area and feel that they are both by far, the best. Avoid at all costs Twichen etc.

Hi Jerry+Tina,
thanks for that - we have two youngsters (6 + 9) who both love getting out into the countryside, so this sounds like just the place - in fact it appears to get the thumbs up from everyone!!!
