Can anyone recommend a good campsite, which offers, or is close to, activities for boys. Open spaces for a game of football, open fires, swimming - that sort of thing?

Ideally somewhere in/around the Lakes, N.Yorks or Scotland. I'm in Newcastle.

Hi Kev,

In our group we've got 5 boys age range 5-11 and last year we went to some great sites.

Brompton an Swale was one our favourite,not far from Catterick, it had a river and we took a cheap dingy and the lads loved it.

Another favourite was Ripley Caravan Park near Harrogate,this had an indoor pool,outdoor play area,games room and footie pitch.

Check the reviews on this site to give you more of an idea.

I'll second Lyndsays choice of Ripley Caravan Park (link here) we enjoyed it that much last half term, we are going back for our main summer holidays.

Friendly, great safe play area, small indoor pool and close to Ripon and Harrogate.
