please could anybody who has visited the new forest camp sites let me know if they have found a site where you are away from a road and loud music, and where there are fairly secluded wooded areas to pitch your tent?

i think we can do without a shower as we are 4 20 something males. a lake/stream for fishing would be an advantage as would cycling/walking distance from a local village or the coast.

after some looking at reviews on this site i can see setthorns or roundhill may be suitable but i'd appreciate a reply if anyone can confirm or suggest any other - thanks!

Setthorns is woody but you will need a loo. No fishing that I know of.

We've only been to ashurst. But I can tell you this is NOT what your looking for, We love this site, so do our kids and half of the south of england! its also close to a main road and a main line railway. We will be going here for many years to come, but its not the type of site you are looking for. Hope this is of some help in narrowing down your search.

thank you for the replies so far.. there are 4 of us and probably 3 tents (one insists on sleeping out in the open!).

when there are no toilets can you just live like out in the wild or will they only let you in with proof of your own toilet facility (chemical disposal unit ????)

as for ashurst i went there last year for about 3 nights - it was good in that it was quite woody and we camped under big trees but as you said the main road is a bit annoying and seems louder during the night!
