Lots of people have recommended campsites for other people but it would be great if you could help me out too! I would really like a site that is peaceful and quiet. I would prefer no childrens facilities / entertainment and am not bothered about a pool etc. My wife and I just like peace (oh, and a beach nearby for the dog would be great!).
Location in the UK doesn't matter - tired of relentless rain / wind up here in Scotland and am prepared to travel!
Thanks for all of your help,
Trevor and Fiona

Have a look at "Walnut Farm" in Norfolk (it's a long way from Glasgow though!). It's the perfect place to 'wind down' in the peace and quiet of beautiful countryside and there are lovely unspoilt beaches at Waxham & Horsey within walking distance...
It's the first site on the Norfolk pages, when you click on 'Campsite search' at the top of the page...
try MAUSTINS in n.yorks, it's between harrogate and wetherby, lovelly and peaceful, situated deep in the dales, got a smashing pub on site, with great meals to eat in/out, no entertainment just somewhere to unwind, fantastic for walks, not beside the sea, but great riverside walk nearby.i can assure you, you won't be disappointed
cheers brin

Binghams Farm in Dorset sounds what you're looking for, total peace and quiet though the beach is about 1-2 miles away. Adults only site, great loos etc. Small bar/restaurant on site. There's reviews on here if you're interested

The Old Oaks in Glastonbury is a superb Adults Only & Dog friendly site - a way from Glasgow admittedly but worth the journey. Plenty of reviews from very satisfied customers on this site.
Hi Andy Pandy, I've also looked at Walnut Farm and it looks great. However if you have been there any idea what the other site is like just further down towards the dunes. On my map it shows a campsite on the lane with Warren Farm. Thanks in advance.

The site you are talking about is "Waxham Sands" campsite. It is a nice site and is right beside the beach & dunes, it has a small shop and a little cafe I believe. It is quite a bit larger than "Walnut Farm" and can get a bit busy during school holiday periods, but then so does everywhere else!...
Wherever you decide to go, have a lovely (peaceful & quiet) holiday... Andy...
P.S. I think "Waxham Sands" is a 'seasonal' site and there may not be anyone to answer phone enquiries until nearer Easter (when they open)...
Try kilvrecht in Rannoch. Peaceful even in August, pitch where u want. No showers, and the last time I went, no hook ups. Oh, bring midge cream, lots of it. Surrounding area is perfect, and not too far from central belt
Lots of peace and quiet at Woodland Gardens, Lundin Links Levin ,Fife. No kids allowed and the cleanest toilet block of any site I've stayed at.The beach at Lower Largo is 15/20 minutes walk away. The coastal villages of the East Neuk of Fife are close by with St.Andrews about 20 minutes away by car.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
