can anyone recommend a campsite (tent with hook-up) , thats young child friendly , and has easy access to a good beach in Somerset or Dorset , or surrounding areas.

Fresh water beach in burton bradstock dorset has a beach attached but the water is deep there are several great beaches near by that are children friendly the site has great showers and a pool with life guards it also has a club house and donkeys and horse and trap rides for kids on the site its

West bay holiday park has free use of the pool included in the price, the beach is just a two minute walk as well.

If you've got kids who will want to go in the sea I'd avoid Freshwater. It's a lovely campsite with good amenities but the coastline is very dangerous and unpredictable with a strong current and undertow (there have been fatal accidents at this beach during the past couple of years). I would not let my kids go in the sea at this beach.

Dorset have some lovely places with beaches, East Fleet at Weymouth being my favourite site. The only one we went to at Somerset was Brean sands ..plenty of beach nut no sea !
