Glad you all enjoyed it

And yes Tigermouse I did see the pet cemetery in Penrhos Coastal Park.

The toll house is very similar to one on the road to Llanfair PG.

I've taken photos of it too. I did once try to find some information about it but wasn't successful - I'd love to know why it's there and whose pets they were. I'm sure they can't all have belonged to the owners of the house!

Bad news I'm afraid, the camera repair shop said that the corrosion inside the camera is quite considerable. I could have it sent off for repair and overhaul but that would cost 120. I decided to buy a newer version of the Camera today for 140 instead since there's no guarantee sending it off will fix the problem.

I might try selling the old one on Ebay with a very detailed description of the problem it has. It still works at present apart from the LCD screen and might be of some use to someone skilled who is prepared to try and repair it.

Oh and I have a conclusion that I'll try and put up later tonight that will hopefully be useful to anyone else planning to do the walk.

Concluding thoughts:

First of all I can't stress how essential it is to get hold of the O/S maps for Anglesey. The Coastal path is generally well marked but it generally only gives you the direction to head in, not distances or points along the path.

Footpaths are frequent in Anglesey but I don't think I saw more than 2 on the whole island that gave any indication of where they lead to. There will be times that the path will be cut off from its intended route by the tide. Unless you have plenty of time to wait for it to go out again the only alternative is to use the lanes and footpaths inland. From what I remember of the guidebook it is nowhere near detailed enough away from the path and it would be very easy to get lost. With the O/S maps it was a piece of cake to plan an alternative route that wouldn't take you too far out of the way.

If I was doing the trip again I would have brought less food with me when I started. Apart from Church Bay there wasn't a single night where I couldn't have popped down to a local store within 10 minutes walk of the campsite and bought some food. I would also have walked further on the second and last days so that I could try to cut down on the distance on the 5th and 6th days. The walk from Beaumaris to Llanellian and Llanellian to Church Bay were real killers and could have done with being shorter.

On the plus side most of the equipment I took worked very well, especially the Karrimor stove, Pro-Action Hike Lite tent and Tesco sleeping bag. The real life saver though was the Camelbak reservoir which allowed me to keep walking without having to stop every time I wanted to take a drink. I also have to highly recommend the Exped drysacks since apart from being a good way to organise the rucksack they saved a lot of my equipment from being drenched when I took a swim on the first day.

Overall though I quite enjoyed the experience as Anglesey really is a beautiful island. The people are quite friendly, although I found it quite strange that about half of those I spoke to who clearly lived on the island were English. I highly recommend the Coastal Path to any hiker, and if anyone wants any advice about it let me know... I can tell you what NOT to do
