As the title says really. I dont drive so rely on getting lifts with my heavier tent. Now the summer is here I really want to get away with my son without the hassle of a car.

we wont be proper backpacking but using local transport to get to the sites etc but would like a tent that we could use for a long weekend. A porch would be great and I like the vango omega but cant find it cheaper than £120ish.

We did have a beta 250 but it was a tad to small and the tent we have at the moment is over 10kg.

Son is 9 so would be able to carry some bits.

So any advice on tents or just lightweight camping with kids?

thanks in advance

this sort of thing do for you?

Thats the Zetes 300 with the Adventure Tarp , weight 4.5kg for the tent 1.3kg for the tarp, theres is also a matching windbreak at 1.6 kg, tho ive yet to get it could get the lot for under 90 quid. Ive not used the zetes yet but it was easy to put up and would be roomy for an adult plus a kid.

please see here for more pics.
