I'm off to Northumberland next week for a family holiday (not camping, sadly). I would like to do some fell walking while I'm up there.
One can find thousands of pages online devoted to the Lake District, the North Yorks Moors, The Dales and so on but surprisingly little advice on good strenuous routes in upland Northumberland.
I've got The Cheviot pencilled in as a summit to bag but does anyone have other good hill walks they can recommend please?

lot of good info on the above sites, main walking areas are cheviots, simonside, hadrians wall & kielder. If your planning to do the Cheviot pop into tourist information in Wooler theres a lot of info on local routes, Yeavering Bell is a popular walk in this area.
oh wow, that brings back loads of memories, i did my Duke of Edinburgh back in .....erm well yonks ago, and walked many miles round Northumberland, Alston has some good backpacking walks, also around middleton on teesdale, The Cheviot is a great one to walk, did that one too...As it was my Duke of Edinburgh we were in very remote places. I loved it, I remember walking through parts of Kielder too..maybe you want to check that out.
