Another Trangia fan here, I use both meths and also have a gas conversion for it as well. A recent purchase of a jetboil flash has me heading a bit towards the dark side though ;) the jetboil is great for a quick cuppa or a wayfarer meal but you can't do fried bacon and sausage on it !!
And thats just what I love about the Trangia, the fact you can cook 'proper' food with it, in near silence (oh plus it all nests together)
whereas it seems to me, that more 'modern' gas stoves are all about how quickly they can boil a cup of water, whilst sounding like a jet engine!

Hi, only got five stoves optimus 111b , optimus 8r Chinese copy of MSR featherlite a gas burner and a Marskill stainless trangia type which is always the one I tend to take although the 8r is always in my panniers as back up. When camping with friends they have banned me from using my pressure stoves because the flaring scares the s**t out of them the pussies.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
