I’ve seen “car camping” on many independent sites. Back seats folded flat to make a bed, so not all cars are suitable. Tailgate up for cover over cooking, sit in comfy front seats in the evening (I used to do that when I was tenting, when the midges were fierce). Curtains or silver screens all round for privacy & warmth. Not for Caravan & Camping Club sites, managers would have a hissy fit.

Hiring a suitable car that can turn the backseats and boot into a bed, and add a tailgate awning could be an option IMHO.

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I can't remember seeing a car camping with a tailgate awning at CAMC club sites; however, I have only been a member since 2021 and had not used their sites much.
