Well we did spend just over a week in Kent, on a nice little site on the Isle of Sheppey, somewhere that we hadn't visited since 1969 on our first holiday as a married couple. That time we were in a borrowed Bedford Dormobile camper.
We visited most of our favourite places while we were there last year, although only those we could get to by train as we had a wheel bearing playing up on the car so I saved it for the journey home. We did make it home ok, but I had to get it fixed as soon as we got back.

That's a lovely report and photos! It's an interesting area, we've camped at Sandwich and the former C&CC site in Folkestone previously.
Thank you!
And HPNY to you and Colin21.
Sandwich is pretty - in the past, that was the only route to Thanet (see pics) from near Dover and it took A G E S... due to the toll bridge. Loved going to Joss Bay (once a year!) for the sand but hated the journey although it was quite interesting to go past Richborough power station with the elegant and sadly no longer there cooling tower, and the fireworks factory, with huts divided by walls for 'safety'!
I miss the Fokestone C&CC site. There are coastal defence reinforcements underway currently, after a storm destroyed some of the path/barrier last year.
I do hope someone reopens it. A special place.
Happy camping!

Happy Camping! It feels a long way away at the moment in the cold. We did manage to get away for a few weekends in 2025 with the good weather, so we're pleased about that. Hopefully will make it down to Kent again.
Not too many recent memories of Kent, a few from my childhood holidays in Margate (B&B, not camping) and 'model boating' in the sea pools IIRC. Spent my late teens/early twenties visiting Lydden Hill for the Rallycross racing quite regularly, but not really been there much since.
Did one channel crossing Dover-Calais in the mid 80's. Visited Chatham Dockyard museum a long time ago, done a couple of flying visits on dog rescue transports more recently.
Think my main reason for not venturing there much is it's a relatively PITA journey for me! Getting on for 100 miles across/around London, if not the dreaded M25, even worse roads like North or South Circular!!!!!! Uhhgggggg! Shudder at the thought! I know Kent has a lot to offer, but the getting there puts me off!

Relatively easy journey for me (A10 - M25 - M2) as long as the M25 is running ok. Mind you, I don't like smart-motorways and usually avoid them when I can. You can't though if you have to go through Dartford crossing. I don't have any choice there as my car is not ULEZ exempt and no way am I paying them their rip-off fee!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
