I was thrilled to see the van and flag on site in Dunstan Hill. Thank you for the offer of extra guys in the unexpected wind.
Always good to meet other members of UKCS!
You were very brave to camp in that wind!

You clearly enjoy your food!
If you ever go back to Dunstan hill, there is a really good fish restaurant at very nearby Craster, The Jolly Fisherman, booking is essential and ask for a table with a view and if lucky you will see seals while enjoying a lovely meal.
We did a Scotland trip about the same time as yours. Dunbar was our first stop and Dunstan Hill the last.
And, for your rice dishes I take rice pouches, no need to microwave (we don't have one in the van) just add to your other ingredients and heat through.
Ah, DK, I loved reading this and hearing about your highland adventure, and the Spam suggestions (why has Spam come to mean something so less wholesome ). You forgot Spam fritters: Spam dipped in batter and fried! Spam Hash?
I noticed you plan to visit Dunbar: good choice as Dunbar is lovely (my remaining sister lives there). It's an interesting and picturesque little town still with individual shops, a lovely walk along the coast to Belhaven Bay and the Bridge to Nowhwere. Further afield there's North Berwick and boat trips around the Bass Rock, seabirds and sealife (dolphins if you're lucky). Whitesands Bay is a wonderful spot where my sis goes swimming (just ignore the power station a little along the coast!). And of course, only about 40 mins away from Edinburgh eithe by road or train.
Enjoy.

I am returning to Dunbar next May 2026 for a few days before I attend a function in Newcastle, campsite and kennel in Newcastle already booked.
I tend not to go out and about once I have arrived on a site. However, Dunbar site has plenty of well-maintained walks around the site so the dog is happy.
Definitely going back to the Highlands again some time in the future.
The trip after Scotland was Lincolnshire and I could not help but think the scenery was kind of flat and not very interesting compared with the Highlands!
