... someone else could post something, that affects your own post, possibly causing you to wish you hadn't posted, or causing you to hastily edit.... or even delete, your post.
On a (non camping) forum I frequent, when you press "SEND", it automatically informs you of (and shows you in full) any new post(s) that have appeared whilst you were typing yours out, and gives you the opportunity to edit, delete, or of course, confirm that you still want to send it as it is, to the world wide public.
Now, I have no idea whether this is something that could be considered on UKCS, but just thought I'd mention it, in case anyone here thinks it is a good idea (as I do) and whether it is do-able.
Can't you just hit the "Edit" button and edit your post that you have just posted?
I must admit to liking the feature of being able to see new posts while I am composing mine in a non-camping board that I frequent too.

Yes of course, DK. That's the best option..... available!
It's funny how we both feel the need to mention other forums we use, but immediately add that they are non-camping forums... Just to make it clear we wouldn't dream of lowering our standards by going anywhere other than UKCS!
I mentioned non-camping related board(s) to show I have other interests apart from camping!

Some forum software with the facility of informing you there has been a post whilst writing your own don't actually show you what has been written so in that case you would be no further forward. You can always delete content from a post and I am sure if you contacted admin they would remove the remains of the empty post.
Fully appreciate that, David.
(The one I'm familiar with does show you, in full, what has been posted by others whilst you were composing your own, btw),
It's just that having the opportunity to edit your post before it goes public, is preferable to editing afterwards.... even just a few seconds afterwards. It can, on occasion, save repetitive and/or incorrect advice being given, or indeed (and more likely, in my case) acute embarrassment!
Hey, don't get me wrong. I've no idea how difficult it is to set something like this up, or indeed, whether there is a cost involved. I'm at my (absolute) limit just joining in a forum, never mind actually running one! LOL!
Just thought it worthy of a mention, just in case the UKCS hierarchy thought it feasible. I'm more than happy to continue as is, of course.
How I do it if I have typed a post that has taken a while...Copy it by clicking/hilighting in blue then right click & copy. Then click off post back onto forum & back onto post. If nothing has been posted since to affect your own post then right click & paste it back in & post.
I don't think ukcs uses proprietary forum software so it might not to easy to add the facility requested.
