I know that I'm not the first person to do this but I'm posting it here in case anyone else has a similar issue.
We love a serviced pitch but we often find that the waste water doesn't flow easily into the drain. Sometimes it's even up hill from the unit. Our solution is this:
It's a boat shower sump pump. It comes with 3 wires which I have wired into a waterproof connector. The other end of the connector is a 12v plug that plugs inside my trailer tent. An alternative would be to tap into a 12v wire for the toilet pump (for example).
When water in the sump reaches a certain point it triggers the pump and sends the waste water to the main drain. This is it's second year and it works brilliantly. Hope this helps someone.
Good shout at marg6. I think that would work most of the time on a caravan but the waste pipes on our trailer tent are quite low down. Plus, we have had some pitch drains that would only work if you pitch a particular way or even have been at the top of a sloping pitch. We enjoy having the flexibility to pitch where we want rather than where the drain is.
