I will set the scenario. Going on a bit of an expedition where the temperatures can hit -35 deg C.

For some unknown reason the manufacturers of the merino wool base layer I have, has not put in the added cloth for the normal under-pant design with a front opening.
So given you would have to partially undress in freezing conditions, does anyone know of a male counterpart to the shewee device. Other alternative is a condom with a pipe glued on :)

Hmmm. At some point, daily for some, you will need to carry out a bodily function for which a shewee is not suited for either gender. I’d have thought there would be portapotti type toilets provided, because there will be strict environmental requirements about taking absolutely everything away. You won’t be able to bury any waste as the ground will be frozen, and snow can melt & reveal what’s been left behind.
There’s probably a YouTube about all this!

Joking apart, I googled just what you were asking. There are plenty of plastic portable male urinals available for less than £10.
You don’t give any details of the trip. Our expedition into similar cold temperatures was to Svalbard, with trips ashore or alongshore on a zodiac from a Hurtigruten ship. Unless you’re camping (not an option in polar bear areas), you may find you’re back to civilisation before you need a comfort break.

Having had to go for a pee in -30, a she wee type device won't be much use. Your appendage will go like a tortoise when hitting the cold
Maybe a catheter type device or a cup, tube and bottle as used by high altitude mountaineers for prolonged tent stays.

Go to a really good dry cleaner that does alterations and get them to modify your long johns as needed.

Some good suggestions, we are going to north Norway next November, so plenty of time to prepare.

Just another check mark on the many things to think about, which also includes new equipment.

One of the members did Everest base camp, but not had chance to ask about this as yet, given he is away.

As someone mentioned you cannot leave waste behind so I will be taking gel packs and as someone else mentioned you may need to go once a day, but that is what a tent is for besides sleeping. :)
