I am thinking of getting one of these to use on short stays and overnighters on european trips. Are they worth it? We got caught out in France last year, all set up for a 2 night stay, tables and chairs out, BBQ fired up and the heavens opened. Luckily we had trees handy and managed to rig a cheap tarp over the seating area, but the Loggia would have been ideal. We are off to italy for 3 weeks in May and I think the sun canopy would be perfect till we reach the sites we intend to stay for a few days then use our air awning. Just hoping those that use sun canopies will give their opinions.

i would be taking a good look around, there are a lot that do the same thing for far less money, such as https://www.awnings.co.uk/sunncamp-sunshield-390.html for £200 less and weight half the amount, but surely you can use your full awning just without the sides up?

We use a sun canopy and I'm afraid I would not be paying just for the name Isabella.
As marg says there are much cheaper out there that will do the same job.

It was the depth that attracted me 2.7m, but as you say it is very expensive for what it is. May look at one of These instead.

i wasnt saying to put the full awning up, but you can just put the roof part of it up without putting the front and sides on it and all the pegging needed for doing that

We have the Isabella Magnum and can add the sunshade onto the front of it or just use it on its own. Works for us.

The Isabella is expensive for a reason and that reason is quality. In 10 years time you could sell it for almost the same price you paid for it as it will last and last. In the meantime with a cheaper sun awning, you probably would have replaced it twice in the 10 year period.

However as always it is your choice.

This is true, but at 450 for the 4 meter, I could replace it 3 times with the one I'm looking at now.

We have two Isabella Eclipse sun awings, a small one that also fits onto our Magnum awning and a full size Eclipse. We find that we use them much more often than we use the Magnum because of the ease of erecting and dismantling, so much so that we are thinking of selling the Magnum. There are a few more poles with the Eclipse but that is a bonus to my mind and it doesn't take much extra time but gives greater overall strength.

I did however buy them all second hand, most hardley used so saved a few quid.

Dave.

Decided to go with CampTech Sussex 400 Sunshade, £140. If it just lasts a couple of years I'll be happy.

Sunshade arrived yesterday, looks OK. Will have to wait till next year to try it out, van has been put to bed. Ill get some more storm lines as well, so there is 2 on each pole to give better stability.
