Hi all

I went away about 6 weeks ago and I thought I had empted my Hiace campervan fridge of food, unfortunately I missed a sausage in tin foil right at the back, needless to say it smelt like a dead corpse!

I’ve cleaned the fridge down, but some of the smell exists, anyone got any ideas what the best course of action how to neutralize this!

Thanks

Granny's methods work best! Leave a small tub of Bicarbinate of Soda in the fridge and it will absorb bad odours.

You can also wipe the inside with a solution of Bicarb and water, BUT ensure you do not get the solution on the aluminium heat exchanger fins at the back of the fridge, there will be a chemical reaction that can damage the aluminium! Wipe out with fresh water.

And of course don't forget to leave the door ajar when the fridge is out of use to allow ventilation and avoid musty smells.

We wipe everything down with an anti bac wipe & always leave the fridge propped open on the wee bar when we’re at home. Don’t forget to take out the ice cubes - they don’t smell, but we’ve had to bin some silicone trays as they’ve gone mouldy & won’t come clean.

Carapaks MSC multi surface cleaner will sort it out, I use their CaraTol as a drain cleaner and that would also work

It WAS - part, of a dead corpse.

Nowt worse than forgetting food you've stashed.

Looking at the label on the bottle, the contents are for upholstery and fabric applications and not hard surfaces so the OP could buying something that isn't suitable for treating bad odours in a fridge.

Many thanks for the replies.

I done a clean down with flash and put some bicarb soda in a pot and I think I maybe winning, the smell a bit less today.
I also bought a chargeable deodorizer from Amazon for the longer term, when not using it.
