Hi Hartley Hare, we have a Daxara, which is made by Erde, so presume will be very similar, although ours is a 127, so a bit smaller than yours.  we also needed more space, and i agree that extending the height is a great way of doing this.  They don't seem to do the side extensions for the smaller trailer, (and they are rather expensive anyway!) so my OH made a frame to fit inside using some external grade plywood and strengthening wooden bars.  He is quite handy at woodwork, but it really is a very simple design (even i could have done it!), and it works a treat.  It's lightweight and easy to left out when not needed, ours doesn;t fold down when not in use (we don;t need it to as we store all our camping gear in it between uses), but i dare say with a bit of extra thought this could be done.

I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but it could perhaps be another option for you?

We have the Erde 122 and the high side/cover kit and its excellent ,doubles the space .If the frame for the larger trailer is the same then it just sits on the top edge and is held on by the cover ,very easy to fit

while on subject of trailers can I ask a question. We are desperately looking for a trailer. I have been looking for one with a lockable lid as we want to keep our camping equipment in it. However I cannot find one we can afford so was thinking of one with just a cover.

Those that have just a cover have you ever had problems with people trying to open them. And would it take long to get inside?

Was that with other campers? They tend to have a little more respect than neighbours.

Sorry, silly question time.

But when using the high side / cover on the Erde 122 is the load stable above the normal sides of the trailer?

We have been looking at these but OH does not think that the load would be stable.

Thanks

Thanks sxis.

It would work out a lot cheaper than buying a new bigger trailer!

All I have to do now is convince the OH!

i have a Erde 102 trailer which i have had for 2 years, but needed to increase the volume as i now have more equipment,so i did this with the 102 by buying the high side with cover cost £69-95 with free delivery from www.westerntowing.co.uk.

i was not to happy reling on the canvas cover to hold every thing in as it only has a tubular frame which sits on top of trailer,so i did a modification by screwing the frame to the trailer, and made some 6mm plywood sides. These are fixed to the tubular frame by home made ali clips. The cover then goes over all this and is waterfroof.

i have used this for our last two camping holidays, and had no problems at all.

when i get my camera back from repair i will post photos of how i did this

Make your own lid from marine ply. It is much cheaper than buying the side extensions and is also lockable if you want to keep some of your kit in the trailer. I have photos of mine on my profile and have in the past posted instructions of how top make a secure box lid.
