Hi, yes we had one when we tent camped and it was great. Had it sat on a low table and used the top for storing kitchen stuff. Kept it away from the edge of the awning so it had plenty of ventilation.
As long as you always intend to have EHU you'll be fine, if you plan on no EHU from time to time, then a 3 way may be better. Having said that, a lot of campsites especially those geared more towards tents have a fridge/kitchen area that you can use.
Also, a lot cheaper than some of the dedicated camping fridges.

Thanks, we already have a 12/24v cool-box but thinking this may struggle temperature and space wise on our 2 week trip to to France over the summer.
A 3 way fridge will work while you are towing although not while you are on the ferry. However, if the fridge is pre-cooled before the journey and filled with lots of cold stuff it should stay cool for a long time.
Another option is to hire one in France, which is what we do. Yes it is cheaper to bring your own but we already have a trailer for camping kit and don't wish to have a roof box or jammed up boot (full but can use the rear view mirror to see).
We have a table top fridge and a table top freezer which we use in the awning. The fridge we use just for cold beers and wine. Food is kept in the caravan fridge. Freezer we bought last year and is a godsend when it’s stinking hot and you need ice.
We had one of these for seven years … brilliant …. two shelves, freezing compartment, room for large bottles … thoroughly recommended …. only sold it on when we got a van with a large drawer fridge.
We have a small "beer fridge" (cast-off from our son after a world cup), which sits on a table in the awning. We use it for beer/wine overflow and extra storage space for anything else which won't fit in the inside fridge. More storage under the table for the beer and wine which is then circulated through the 2 fridges as required.
We used to also take a cool box (12/240v), but found that it just took up space and, with careful management, we could do without.
We tend to shop about every 3 days, so need some additional storage!
------------- Freedom is a light caravan and an open road.
We've frequently taken a small domestic 240v chest freezer stuffed full of frozen food (you can't get decent bacon in France for one thing!!!) when we've been tent camping in Le Mans, France. It stays frozen for the ferry journey without power. We run it off a small generator (no EHU available) for a few hours each day and it's fine. Usually placed in the tent porch area, but has also been outside under a tarp 'shelter'!
We've also taken a 'normal' under counter domestic fridge when we've had a larger setup, that also ran off generator for a few hours per day. Certainly far more effective than any electric or ice packed 'coolbox', just don't open it too often.
Can't see any problem with your mini fridge on EHU.

I can't see why a fridge would not work on gas on a ferry. About 35 years ago my caravan fridge only worked on gas and it worked while being towed, on site and at home. (It was an old caravan with many faults but it was cheap to buy).
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
