We're looking for a router we can take camping for a few days between May to September. We came across a "EE 4G 120GB 4GEE Wi-Fi Mini Mobile Wi-Fi Router".
Don't suppose anyone has one of these or similar?
We saw a Falcon router at the NEC today at the camping show but it was around £270 and the above EE one is only £90.
Up until this year we have just tethered to our phones to create a wifi hotspot and this works well if you have a good amount of data.
However, we have both reduced our phone data down to a cheap package as we rarely use data when we are at home so when we go away in the caravan for any length of time, we buy a 1 month unlimited data sim to use. This meant that last year we had to keep switching the unlimited sim in and out of my phone so that I could check for calls and messages on my own sim and then use the unlimited for a hotspot. This became tedious, so for this year, we have bought a TP-Link 4G router and we will put our unlimited 1 month sim into it when we are away for our long holiday. We haven’t tried it in the caravan yet but we tried it at home and it worked very well giving a stronger signal and faster speed than my phone on the same SIM card.
I wonder what happens should you cross the channel, or use it between the cliffs and France. I've had phones connect to France in Folkestone and in parts of Dorset.
I have used a MiFi dongle for years for the same reason as Pixie Hez
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253415790170 i have purchased from this seller many times without any issues.
to start I would buy a preowned dongle off ebay and see how you go.
I recently upgraded my dongle and still have the old one surplus to requirements if your interested.
