Hi everyone,

New here, tried searching for help but couldn't track anything down - apologies if I didn't go deep enough!

We're just about to get properly into camping as a family and I'm starting to stock up on essential equipment before our first proper trip in the summer. I'm starting with cooking/kitchen equipment and am struggling to get my head around gas canisters.

At home I have a patio gas container that I use to hook up to my Ooni pizza oven - both of which I'm intending to take with us, along with a camp stove of some kind. From what I can tell, Campingaz are the industry leader in stoves, but I'm getting the distinct impression that they won't hook up to my existing cylinder - but maybe I'm wrong? Is it as simple as needing to get a particular hose/regulator to connect ie: the Campingaz Elite Folding Stove to the container I already have?

I'd rather not have to lug two different types of cylinder along and as I already have the patio gas container, I'd rather find a way to use that for everything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd be very grateful!

Cheers!

If your patio gas is a regular steel bottle, and your folding stove takes the thin sided screw-in canisters, i cant see the two combining. Id get some kind of portable gas stove/hobs. Dont have to be campingaz. Cadac and plenty others do perfectly good folding ones that will hook up to regular gas bottles.

Is this the stove you're looking at? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Campingaz-Elite-Camping-Double-Burner/dp/B087M6T8K9/ref=a........
If you look closely at the left side there is a connector with an orange hose coming from it, the other end of that hose will connect to the outlet of the regulator of whatever gas cylinder you have. Hope this helps and you enjoy your camping trips.

Thanks, this is super helpful. It certainly seems from this that I can get a hose/regulator and it'll fit to my existing cylinder. Hopefully.

Now onto researching roof bags and camp beds... cheers!

You have to make sure the regulator is for your exact cylinder. Propane/butane aside, there are numerous fittings for the different type bottles. Annoyingly, some look very similar, but will not go on unless 100% correct. All will run the stove (which was of the type i was eluding to you acquiring).

You might need to add a trailer to your list? That pizza oven is a big piece of kit.
At least it is a gas oven - my BIL uses wood & I am surprised that the neighbours don’t complain about the clouds of smoke on their washing.

It's a Karu 12, gas or wood, relatively compact so will fit nicely in the boot - investing in a roof bag to carry the softer/lighter stuff to make room for the oven!
