The heaters passed their safety checks - its the poorly translated and very basic installation instructions that was the safety concern.
This was their response when the issue first arose late October
The reason we requested eBay to remove the listing was due to an issue identified with the instruction manual supplied.
The manual did not cover specific warnings:
Not installing the item near combustible materials
Not installing the item near a source of poisonous gasses
The item itself passed the physical testing.
Our concern is for users that may not be experienced with the installation and maintenance of this product type."
I installed one in my caravan in October but that was after a great deal of research and upgrade of some of the components (fuel hose, exhaust clamp, floor turret). Followed some of the better installation guides and rarely referred to the supplied installation instructions which are universally accepted as crap.
I'm considering fitting one in my PVC. Gas heating is good, but takes a while to warm up, so looking for a more 'instant' heat.
As we tend not to use EHU.
I had noticed that ebay have removed some ads.
What model did you fit?
I also upgraded the fuel filter (£8), used a turret mounting plate to install (£23), fuel stop tap (£8) and a different fuel tank and sender (£15). For safety reasons it is also worth buying a CO monitor (£25) if you do not already have one.
If flush with cash, look at Lavaner Pro but it was around three times the price of the Vevor. David Mcluckie youtube channel covers a number of strip downs of diesel heaters
Thank you for all the info, I've been trawling through YT videos on how to install and am confident in fitting one myself. Just which one to buy ??
My mate who has a Webasto Air Top 2000 fitted buy a dealer thinks they are the business, but I can't warrant paying out at least £800 for a diy one. He sent me the link re Chineese heaters at Felixstowe.
Yes - its tricky. Lots of clones and its not clear what the difference is. From what I've read, people are generally satisfied with the vevor. Tricliks are ok, Maxpeedingrods better. Lavanor probably a step up but people still report the odd issue with them.
I suspect that many problems people have with cheap heaters are caused by poor installation. If they had spent more time on the research and planning the installation, placement of heater, routing fuel line, exhaust, electrics and position of fuel pump some common issues could be avoided.
My thinking was, if I am fitting it myself and am happy to try and resolve any issues - I would just go cheap. If you watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU3tYB6w608 it gives an indication what the higher quality ones feature.
One thing overlooked - if you only use your pvc occasionally - fit an isolation switch or the controller display will flatten your leisure battery after a couple of weeks
I have one of the free standing ones. I've put it on a trolley with castors and a large leisure battery so I can move it around my workshop. I have the extension exhaust you can buy, and this exits through a hole in my metal garage door. I also made a little escutcheon that drops over the hole when the heater is not in use. The instruction manual is crap! There's good advice from the farcebook forum on these heaters. They warm my workshop up enough to warrant me going out there to tinker away in the winter months.

The prices of the cheap 2kw clones from UK suppliers now seem to start £140. The price difference with the Lavaner has shrunk quite a bit. If I were buying one now I would probably get a lavaner pro. £215 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001337957050.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.hotS........
but then again you can still get the Vevor from Ali Express for £90
I have had one in my motorhome for quite a few years, the only advice i will give is think about the tank and pumps position - mine is in the 'garage' with the heater further up the motohome in another locker with blowair tubes up coming out at the bottom of the kitchen unit one facing front and the other rear. I find the most annoying noise for me is the ticking of the fuel pump, noticed one afternoon when i went for a snooze and couldnt because of the tick tick noise ( i might add i cant have any clocks either that tick otherwise i dont sleep - the ticking just gets louder and louder to me untill i remove said ticking item) apart from that i have not had any issues with it, gives plenty of heat when in use
