Hi. I know this subject matter has been covered partially over the years on here but can't find exactly the answer. So I need gas (trailer tent / bbq). I have got from research that it's best (as someone using it maybe 10 times a year) to buy a cylinder second hand. I see a 904 bottle for £5 on gumtree that I might get. However a)I assume Calor exchange this type of cylinder(904)? b)I guess they take rusty old ones in exchange still do they? c)If so do I need an agreement for Calor to exchange or just rock up and they exchange? Thanks for any help
As to size that's your preference, if I was using smallish I would go 907...I have three in my van.👍
Handy for the webber 1200.
Small propane might suit you better
As to exchanging, I have never been asked for any receipt or contract for the gas bottle. Just rock up and exchange like for like. Been exchanging 20 odd years.
Campingaz 904 & 907 are very expensive exchange for the amount of gas you get. You would be better off finding a small Calor butane 4.5kg bottle. Almost twice as much gas for less money. Or the same size red 3.9kg propane bottle would do equally well. Propane is better if you are using it year round in cold weather.
Thanks. Generally speaking isnt the screw connection the most common connector for appliances? Also do most of these smaller gas bottles only have the screw connection? Thanks
Id get a small calor propane, they all have the screw in regulator. And you can get a 'thumbwheel' type so no spanners needed. You will get an empty 4.7kg off something like FB marketplace for about a tenner. Then just swap it for a full one at a gas stockist/petrol garage/hardware store.
